The Torah tells of a thousand from each tribe sent to carry the mission. Our sages teach that another thousand stood behind them in tefillah.
Both were part of the mission.
You don't have to be inside the yeshiva to be part of what happens inside it.
That's ELEF.
The verse says "a thousand from each tribe" twice. The Midrash explains the repetition. One thousand from each tribe went out to carry the mission, and another thousand stayed behind to stand with them in tefillah. Both were counted as part of the mission.
Elef is also spelled with the same letters as alef, to learn, as in the verse "va'a'alefcha chochmah," and I will teach you wisdom (Iyov 33:33). A thousand people, gathered around learning.
Every day, students at RCSA sit down to learn. ELEF brings one thousand people around that learning and gives each one a share in sustaining it.
